Assim como é mencionado na canção "Conexão Amazônica", do Legião Urbana, movidos pelo medo do tráfico de cocaína chegar mais rapidamente no solo brasileiro, e também dos princípios ativos para indústria farmacêutica serem mais facilmente contrabandeados a outros países, a Transamazônica - BR 230, que faria a conexão Amazônica com portos do Norte e Nordeste nunca foi finalizada, apesar de alto investimento de países estrangeiros.
